Why I Chose BSIT

In this blog, I want to talk about my reasons for taking the BSIT course over the other courses. First of all, I grew up as a kid that went to internet cafes a lot, and I guess part of where I am right now is because of the childhood that I had. Escalating things to me deciding to take the ICT strand from high school. From then onwards, it just grew on me—the fact that I can do many things, like making a website, applications, and everything.

Projects that I made in high school.

It was just amazing to me that the websites or applications I'm using, like social media and video games, give me the ability to learn programming. I thought that it was really cool to be able to make something similar or even better than this. For example, I was able to make a functioning website that allows the user to register and play music. I know that it's still far from being used for an actual working website, but it's amazing as a student to be able to make something like this.

Both are projects I made for HCI and CP1.

Another reason I chose this course was because of the influence of my cousin, who is an IT graduate. But not only that, there are still other reasons why I chose BSIT. One of the reasons is the diversity of the career opportunities laid out in the IT field. There are so many options that I can take to become an expert in the particular field that would help me land a job in the far future. Although for now I'm still figuring out what I want to become or what job I want to have in the future, I'm listing down some of the possibilities or career fields in which I'm interested that are in line with the BSIT course.

1. Cloud Engineer
  • I think this is one of the most interesting jobs in the field right now. Although I don't have much knowledge in the field, I joined this club called AWS Cloud, where they're having seminars about cloud computing, which is great since it's helping a student in the IT field have more knowledge in different fields.
2. Web Developer
  • All of my knowledge in the field right now can be used in web development, so I just had to put this on the list. Also, designing is not one of my strongest traits, but with enough practice, I think I can do the job pretty well.
3. Cyber Security Specialist
  • As of now, I'm eyeing this field since it's one of the most common fields in IT. Also, I think the cyber security field has a deep domain, so it's definitely an interesting field.
Overall, no matter what job I get if I ever finish this course, I don't think I will ever regret choosing this course since it remains interesting to me.

  4. I think one last sentence in the ending part of the blog to summarize the topic would be nice to conclude the topic.
